If I were to have a discussion with the "one percenters" either one on one or collectively, this song is what I imagine I'd say.
More people need to think about others' well-being. It's not just about you, it's about all of us. And when you do think about others, spread goodwill, and do good works, good things will come back to you.
Economic Inequality overarches Racial Inequality. The one leads to, and perpetuates the other. Let us hope that the current protests can shed light on this Inequality without more bloodshed.
And most importantly, let us try to leverage current events into a concerted, mounted effort to VOTE and get the VOTE out.
Many have struggled and/or died to get us the opportunity to VOTE. We must use this opportunity, and convince others to VOTE as well.
Don't give in to despair and cynicism, and complain that the system is broken.
If enough people vote, then we can change things.
VOTE!
This song is part of a new release I'm working on. In light of current events, everyone who's seen this video has asked me to post it online NOW. The message is clear, my call to action is to get out there and vote, and get others to VOTE. If you like this video, and would like to support my work, then please use the Tip Jar to the right, or consider purchasing one of my albums.
The Kim Loo Sisters Documentary is still in the hunt for funding.
We recently made it into the finals for the Paley Center for Media DocPitch Competition.
Our producer Leslie Li will be pitching our documentary.
What is the DocPitch competition? According to their website: "How do you sell a documentary? Watch and learn as five preselected up-and-coming nonfiction filmmakers pitch their ideas before a live audience and a group of eminent documentarians. The panel of experts will evaluate the proposals for uniqueness and viability, as well as offering the emerging filmmaker helpful feedback. The winner will be awarded a $5,000 grant from A&E IndieFilms to be used toward the completion of the pitched film. The audience will learn valuable lessons in communicating ideas and will also get to cast its vote. Past winners of this contest, now in its eleventh year, include the acclaimed films The Age of Love, Circo, and Herman’s House."
Go Leslie!
In June, Ashfield's Bill Perlman
Reunited 'The Freedom Singers'
This Civil Rights-era group toured the Southern United States in protest against segregation. Reunited after many years, they performed a sold-out show at The Ashfield Town Hall.
They recorded the show, and brought the project to Ratite Studios for Mixing and Mastering. The performance and the recording sounds great, and I can't wait for this to come out!
